We are able to work with most photos or scanned copies of a signature. Make sure to use a clear, good quality photo of the signature. For best results we recommend using a dark color ink on a plain white paper background. Use a signature with a thinner line/stroke as it is easier to adjust the line thickness of the signature upwards if needed for optimal engraving results during artwork setup.
NOTE: When digitizing the signature, our in house design team can remove unnecessary backgrounds/lines from the image however an additional artwork setup fee of $15 may apply if substantial cleanup of the signature is required.
Our custom whiskey decanters are laser engraved instead of printed. Because the design is etched directly into the crystal rather than color filled, we’re unable to reproduce different colors or gradients. The engraving results in a subtly textured, frosted white mark that contrasts beautifully against the clear crystal background.
Unlike sandblasting, this precise engraving technique doesn’t carve deep grooves but gently etches the crystal’s surface, enabling us to reproduce intricate and finely detailed designs.
Yes. – If needed, we can engrave different logos/artwork on the decanter & glasses. Please note that an additional artwork setup fee of $15 per additional artwork will apply. Engraving a logo with text on the decanter but only the logo (without text) on the glasses can be accommodated at no extra charge.
Yes. – If needed we can add both logo and text engraving to the back of the decanter and/or glasses. Please note that a secondary engraving fee of $30 or $40 will apply if we are engraving the back of the decanters or glasses, respectively. Prices shown on the product listing pages already include custom engraving on the front.

The Vibe: Signature Keepsake + Personalized Legacy Gift
The Hourglass Whiskey Decanter by Waterford is handcrafted in Europe from premium crystal and custom engraved in-house in New York by DecanterEngraving.com. Designed for the long-term storage and serving of whiskey, bourbon, scotch, or rye, it delivers exceptional clarity, brilliance, and substantial weight for a polished display presentation.
The Hourglass decanter’s tapered, curvy profile adds fluid, sculptural presence on the shelf—an instant statement piece that looks elevated before the first pour. This refined silhouette makes the Hourglass a meaningful personalized gift for anniversaries, retirements, memorial gifts, milestone birthdays, legacy keepsakes, executive recognition, and family heirloom presentations.
Professional Signature Artwork Setup & Engraving
Upload a clear photo or scanned copy of the handwritten signature, and our in-house design team will professionally clean, digitize, and prepare the signature artwork for precision laser engraving. The signature is optimized for a crisp, high-contrast frosted mark on crystal while preserving the character and personal feel of the original handwriting.
A complimentary digital proof is prepared and emailed within 1 business day for review and approval before production, helping ensure the layout, signature placement, and engraving details are correct before engraving begins. Approved signature artwork files are securely archived for future reorders, matching gifts, and consistent keepsake reproduction.
Luxury Gift Presentation
The Hourglass is available as a standalone engraved decanter or as a complete gift set with 4 matching crystal whiskey glasses, each engraved with the same signature design for a coordinated presentation. Most orders are produced in 1–3 business days after proof approval and are packaged in our custom-designed luxury gift box with silk-lined foam cutouts, gold-foil Ravenscroft branding, and an interior authenticity seal—creating a premium, gift-ready unboxing experience for personal milestones, remembrance gifts, retirement celebrations, and legacy keepsakes.

The Engraving Process
Our crystal decanters are engraved using a computerized laser engraving process that permanently etches the surface of the crystal, creating a refined frosted white mark against the clear glass. Unlike traditional sandblasting, laser engraving does not cut deep grooves into the crystal. Instead, it lightly etches the surface with exceptional precision, allowing us to reproduce even the most intricate and highly detailed artwork with crisp, consistent results.
Engraving Color & Appearance
All personalized crystal decanters and glassware are laser engraved, not printed or color-filled. This engraving process creates a clean, frosted white mark with a subtle textured feel that contrasts beautifully against the clear crystal surface. Because laser engraving permanently etches the glass, color, shading, and gradient effects cannot be reproduced. For the best results, all artwork is rendered in a single-color line art or clipart format, ensuring crisp detail and long-lasting clarity.
